Frequently Asked Traffic Ticket Questions
The Ticket Cricket is a law firm founded by attorney Bret Lusskin, Esq., that focuses on defending traffic violation cases, including traffic tickets, suspended licenses, and criminal traffic cases such as DUI, reckless driving, and driving without a license.
Upon being issued a Florida traffic ticket, you have 30 days to do one of the following:
(1) pay your ticket and plead guilty;
(2) elect driving school; or
(3) plead not guilty and request a court date.
Our lawyers are well versed in the technicalities of traffic law, and may be able to eliminate the worst consequences of your traffic ticket. In many cases, no points will be assessed against your license, and the ticket will not appear on your permanent driving record. The Ticket Cricket’s lawyers may even be able to get your ticket completely dismissed.
In the vast majority of cases, our client’s never set foot in court. Our lawyers will appear in court for you, argue on your behalf, and resolve your case without you having to take time away.
If you have not opted to attend traffic school in the last twelve months, and you have not already done so five times in the past, you may be eligible to attend traffic school to avoid having points assessed against your license. However, you will still have to pay the full ticket price, and traffic school will appear on your permanent driving record, possibly resulting in an insurance hike once your insurer discovers it. There is also no chance of getting your ticket dismissed this way.
Depending upon the charge, paying a traffic ticket will usually result in points being assessed against your license. Even one ticket can cause as many as six (6) points to be assessed. This generally means much higher insurance premiums, and can also cause the suspension of your driver’s license once twelve (12) points have accumulated. The Ticket Cricket can help you avoid these consequences by taking your case to court and fighting the ticket on your behalf.
In most cases, yes. Licenses are suspended for many different reasons in Florida.
